Everyday I’m shuffling…

shuffle 2

Every tarot reader has their own way of shuffling their deck.  Be it narrow side up, long side up, fish style (spread all over a table and swished around), casino style (yikes bent cards!), or any other style I can’t think of!

But what about when you break your hand!  Yes, that was a new one on me. You see a year ago today I broke my left hand, clumsy me, naughty stairs, boo!  Luckily I’m right handed so managed to function well enough, learning to button jeans one handed, wearing FitFlops and other slip on shoes. Not driving was awful though, I really missed that.  Oh and losing my job and ending up on a Switchboard which can be operated one handed, and I’m still doing it and I love it.

What stumped me the most was trying to shuffle my tarot cards, what a performance that was.  They’d go everywhere, and I’d get quite frustrated.  I ended up with either a cloth over the tops of my legs and shuffling into the dent or wearing a skirt so I could catch any cards that tried to escape my messy style of shuffling.  Oh and it’s amazing how useful the left elbow can be too!

It was an education and an experience, and I hope to never have to go through that again.  I am however very grateful to have 2 fully functioning hands and take extra special care of my hands now as they are a gift and a wonderful piece of kit to have.  And best of all I can shuffle 2 handed now to my hearts content 😀
