Mother and son…

Mystic Faerie Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft and Barbara Moore

Queen of Swords and Knight of Swords

There comes a time in parenthood when a mother has to have a serious talk with her son. (This could also be father and daughter or any other such mix of parent child relationship too, even a pet that needs training, but you get the gist)

This time has arrived. Yikes, gulp, oh no!

As a parent you often experience moments where you butt into your child’s life and mostly it’s for safety reasons. Sometimes to explain an event that happened to you that you don’t want them to repeat or to try and explain a life lesson…but do they listen? Not very often I can tell you!

Knowing your child/pet/mentee well is where you can get a head start in the process. Also knowing when they’ve switched off mentally to you when you start ‘at them’ can help, as you know you’re wasting your breath.

It’s time to switch things up a notch now. Find new ways to trickle feed advice and words of wisdom to those you wish to imbue with your knowledge. Change the training treats to a new variety, or any other reward system you want to try. I hear clicker training is good for animals…I wonder if it works on children…hmmm!

As a parent of over 21 years, I wish you success in your methods and probably wish I’d known of your successful ones a long time ago!
