I thought I’d do something different today and instead of a Card of the Day I wanted to talk about tarot and what it means to me.
Tarot is my constant companion, friend, support system, and confidant. It never lets me down, and even tells me things I am not ready or want to hear.
The cards came into my life around 12 years ago. During this time they have guided me through many life changes; most of them hard ones and each with their own lesson to learn. And yes, many a time I have ignored them and yet their message didn’t change until I did. Without the tarot I may have gotten even more lost along the way.
Every time I pick up a tarot deck I hold a world of possibilities and answers in my hands. My cards are my guides, counsellors, and directions for life. I listen to them intently and see what wisdom they wish to bestow upon me. And if you’ve been following my blog you will notice I have quite a few decks, and although different in artwork, they all come together to support me and guide me in a similar and now familiar way.
I write on my blog because I want to, not for financial gain or to boost my ego. I find writing helps my mental health as I can let my fingers dance over the keyboard to bring into being my thoughts, instincts and feelings. I do readings for enjoyment and because I like helping people. Sometimes I feel that my whole life has been geared towards helping others, and the tarot is a way for me to help myself.
As well as having a lot of decks I have a lot of books. I love books, who doesn’t! But as I read each authors tarot story/journey through the cards I keep learning more about the art that is tarot. It’s not fortune telling it is divination of the soul, a way to travel through life with assistance and a way to discover things I have not thought of, the cards have introduced me to a way of life that I love.
Tarot will be my constant until the end of my days, it has become a close friend and one I wouldn’t want to ever be without. Our journey together may change, drift and reconnect many times to come, but it is a journey I am looking forward to taking.
Thank you for being with me on my journey.
