As 2019 draws to a close we are left with a varied collection of memories from the year we’ve just experienced. For many of us it will have been a funny old year, with a lot of things not progressing as we’d liked them to have. This could be because of the influence of the Hanged Man. This card brought with it the feeling of being in limbo, slow or no progression, feeling suspended in time and being unable to get things off the ground.

Fortunately this is all about to change, as 2020 brings in the Emperor, with his love of structure, routine and stability.

You may be wondering how we know which tarot card represents which year – we’ll need to get our maths head on now – here is how you can work it out…

2019 = The Hanged Man… to find which card it is for the year, add up each number like this: 2+0+1+9=12 and the Hanged Man is number 12 in the Major Arcana. Therefore, 2020 = 2+0+2+0=4 The Emperor.

You can take this one step further to find your own personal year card.

To do this take your date of birth…I’ll use mine… 16th February, so 1+6+2+(the coming year 2020) 2+0+2+0=13 which is the Death card, but I get 2 cards as 13 becomes 1+3=4 so I also have the Emperor. Death and the Emperor will accompany me throughout 2020, also the general year card of the Emperor gives me a double dose of him! (If your numbers add up to 22, then this would be the Fool, you can then add 2+2=4 the Emperor (he’s getting about a bit this year!)
