After a very strained year we are now at the start of a fresh new one, full of promise, new hopes and dreams.
Every year we assign a tarot card to represent the year and this past year it was the Emperor’s time. An authority figure, who likes rules, boundaries and regulations. He is also seen as a father figure we can turn to out of respect and appreciation of his support and security. But not all father figures are like that. Some can lead us on the wrong path, either out of ignorance or arrogance.
We’ve certainly seen a lot of new rules come into play during 2020, and even though the Emperor’s reign is coming to a close, he is very reluctant to hand over his power. He’s even turned his back on helping out the incoming Hierophant, which is a shame, as he normally would have a lot to say. Maybe he’s embarrassed about the way things have turned out as he now sits in reflection over all that has happened during the last 12 months.
The Hierophant takes over for 2021 and while much may not be different, with rules and restrictions still being in play, hopefully, what 2021 will be is a year of learning; from experience, lessons and circumstance. Our faith in our abilities may be tested too.
As humans we tend to underestimate ourselves, as it’s easy to see and nurture our faults and those of others, as negativity seems to be an easier natural state of being. As we move into 2021, let the teachings of the Hierophant guide us forward in a more positive light as we renew our beliefs and faith in ourselves and those around us.
Let’s make the most of 2021 and make a positive and productive difference to how this new year turns out for us all.
I wish you a very successful, healthy and Happy New Year.
